MINISTERS OF HOSPITALITY (USHERS)
The Ministers of Hospitality or ushers greet the congregation as they come to the celebration of the Mass. They also assist with the distribution of bulletins and the taking up of the collection.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
The religious education of our parishioners is one of the most important responsibilities of our parish. We have programs for children and adults as described below. Contact: Mr. Augusto Lucero at (718) 266-1612 or by

CCD - Children in grades 1 through 7 are expected to attend religious instructions every year. The reception of First Sacraments and Confirmation are part of an overall program of religious instructions. First Penance and First Communion is generally administered in the 2nd grade, but only after two full years of instructions. The Sacrament of Confirmation is generally received in the 7th grade, but only if the child has remained in religious instructions after receiving 1st Communion.
Adult Faith Formation - Courses in scripture and church teaching are giving at various times of the year.

LECTORS
Our lectors perform the important task of proclaiming the Word of God at the Sunday and weekday Masses. Contact: Deacon Daniel Marley (718) 266-1612.
NOCTURNAL ADORATION
On the First Friday of the month members of the parish meet to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. The Eucharistic Adoration begins at 7:00 p.m. and ends with Benediction at 8:00 p.m.
ROSARY SOCIETY
The Our Lady of Solace Rosary Society meets in the convent chapel at 7:00 p.m. the first Monday of each month to gather, pray and meditate on the mysteries of the Holy Rosary.
SCOUTS
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts meet on Saturday mornings. All of our young people are encouraged to join the
scouting program and build up their leadership skills. Contact: Rosa Smith.
YOUNG AT HEART
The senior members of our parish gather every Thursday at 12:00 noon in the convent chapel for lunch, socializing and join in various activities of mutual interest. All are welcome to attend. Contact: Mrs. Connie Provenza.
STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE
Our parish is in the process of “growing stewardship.” The stewardship committee tries to communicate the way of stewardship to the parish throughout the year.
PASTORAL COUNCIL
Pastoral Council members meet monthly and serve as advisors to the pastor. The members of the council have a concern for the spiritual and temporal health of the parish.
BUILDING AND GROUNDS
The building that serves as the place of meeting for the community of our parish and the sanctuary of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament requires the appropriate attention.  Our parish is in the process of establishing committees of volunteers who give their time in maintaining our beautiful church and its environs.
CHOIRS (MUSIC MINISTRY)
English Choir regularly sings at the 9:30 a.m. Mass every Sunday as well as special days and feasts from the second week of September thru mid-June. Spanish Choir (Coro Español) sings at the 11:00 a.m. Mass every Sunday as well as on special days and feasts throughout the year. The Spanish choir regularly practices Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Contact: Mr. Robert Weigel at (718) 266-1612 or by e-mail at olsmusicman@earthlink.net.
EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF THE EUCHARIST
Assist the priests and deacon with the distribution of Holy Communion during the Mass. Some of our ministers also bring Holy Communion to nursing homes in Coney Island as well as to the sick and homebound of the parish. Contact: Deacon Daniel Marley at (718) 266-1612.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
The finance committee assists the pastor with the parish budget and annual financial report and also makes recommendations on how to keep the parish fiscally sound.
FUND RAISING AND DEVELOPMENT
The establishment of an effective program that will help with the conservation and development of our parish is required. We encourage all parishioners to take part in the requisite newspapers, weekly, monthly
and annual of the maintenance of the parish.
BASEBALL PROGRAM
The OLS Baseball league provides and opportunity for boys and girls, ages 5 to 14 to play organized baseball.  Info may be found on the Web at www.olsbaseball.com.
ALTAR SERVERS
Boys and girls from 5th grade and above assist the priest in the celebration of the Eucharist.

PARENT/TEACHER ASSOCIATION: P.T.A. OF OUR LADY OF SOLACE
Established in September 2007 to serve and support parents and the formation of the youth of our parish. Volunteer are needed for registration, the safety board, cake sales, and teaching assistants as well as planning and coordinating future activities. Contact P.T.A. president Fior Torres through the rectory office for details.
BEREAVEMENT COMMITTEE
We all know the personal suffering one goes through when one loses a close family member or friend.  Within the framework of the New Evangelization, Our Lady of Solace’s Bereavement Committee will serve the needs of those suffering loss.. This is a very important ministry for our worshipping community and we require people on the committee who are really looking to make a difference in the lives of our fellow parishioners that have suffered a loss.  If you are interested, please call Nick Goldblatt at (718) 266-1612 during normal business hours and leave your name and phone number.  You will be contacted.
