Our Lady of Solace Beach Party

One of the worst winters in modern history began with the blizzard of December 26, 2010 and continued with another massive snowstorm only two weeks later.  So, with spring still three weeks away and the city still digging out, Our Lady of Solace looked ahead by treating its parishioners to a huge and much-needed dose of summer.  While we left the sand on our Coney Island beaches, all of the other elements were there.  All of the beach games, karaoke (even then-pastor Father West sang and the windows didn’t break), the music, the food, the fun, the smiles and the laughter were all there to generate summer’s warmth.  Only the sand and the ocean were left at the Coney Island beach two blocks away. Our many thanks our Youth Group and organizers, and to Laura Glazier-Smith, who not only assisted in the organization of the Beach Party, but provided the wonderful pictures below.
